FUNDarte presents La Pluma or La Espada

The common thread of the show is woven by lives crusades of two women, one born in Spain, the other in Mexico, both locked up in a convent but going to twist their destinies in opposite ways: one with the pen, the other with the sword, one is the Nun Alférez and the other Sor Juana.

Event Details

It is about making known the baroque era in Mexico, both in its social, artistic, political or every day. The common thread of the show is woven by lives crusades of two women, one born in Spain, the other in Mexico, both locked up in a convent but going to twist their destinies in opposite ways: one with the pen, the other with the sword, one is the Nun Alférez and the other Sor Juana. The two most famous women in Spain and New Spain of the Baroque era.

Bio

FUNDarte is a Miami-based nonprofit founded in 2003 that presents multidisciplinary arts, with a focus on Latin American, Caribbean, Spanish, and local artists, supporting emerging talent and international cultural exchange through performances and festivals.

Astrid Hadad is a Mexican actress, singer, and performance artist born in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, in 1957, best known for her flamboyant, politically charged cabaret style called “Heavy Nopal,” which fuses music, theater, satire, and extravagant costumes to critique Mexican culture, gender norms, and social issues. She writes, produces, and performs her work internationally, drawing on Mexico’s popular traditions and visual symbols to create incisive, theatrical performances.

BOX OFFICE HOURS

Box Office opens one hour prior to showtime on days with scheduled performances.*

Phone Hours:

Tuesday - Friday: 11:00am – 4:00pm

Saturday - Monday: CLOSED*

* On days with scheduled performances, the Phone line opens at noon and the Box Office sales and will call window will open 1 hour prior to curtain. Box office closes 15 minutes after curtain.

 

REFUNDS AND EXCHANGES

No refunds or exchanges are issued.

The Westchester Cultural Arts Center reserves the right to refuse admission and reject any ticket that has been issued by another entity. A patron holding a revoked ticket will not be permitted into the theater unless they purchase a valid ticket.
